How to join/renew Garingal membership

To join Garingal

From 2022, every member of the family, including juniors, must be registered separately.  Constitutionally, there is no 'Family' category of membership, although there is a capped fee for families if there are more than two fee-paying juniors (see Fees below).

The process requires that you join Orienteering NSW and nominate Garingal Orienteers as your club.  The 'Join' button takes you to the instructions using the Australia-wide 'Eventor' software (it controls memberships, the event calendar and event entries).  In essence, you create a login account for Eventor, then register with ONSW linking your membership with Garingal as you go.

To upgrade from Casuals NSW into Garingal

To switch from the free 'Casuals NSW' group into a paid club membership, click on the 'Upgrade' button for your instructions.

To Renew

Simply click the 'Renew' button.

What are the fees?

Note, half-year discounts apply, and if you join from December 1st you get that month free and only pay for the following year.

  • Senior $60 for those 21 years and over during the membership (calendar) year.

  • Junior $5 for those 10 to 20 year olds during the membership (calendar) year.

  • Juniors under 10 years are free $0.

  • Family $130 max - up to 2 seniors living at the same address and any juniors who look to either adult as parent. After registering each junior, a parent can claim a refund from ONSW for the excess over $130 by emailing  admin@onsw.asn.au

What are the benefits?

Membership of Garingal offers...

  • discount on all events (typically $4 per event)

  • a strong Juniors group ranging from beginners to high performance

  • reciprocal discounts across Australia

  • juniors can access the Active Kids program

  • special offers locally such as a 30% discount for the Sydney Summer Series season ticket

  • Club NewsFlashes and club Newsletter to give you the latest

  • weekly e-Bulletins from ONSW

  • a quarterly national magazine the Australian Orienteer available digitally or as hardcopy

  • access to member-only training and development courses

  • Club events and social activities.

Membership of Garingal is technically free because all your fees go to ONSW to:

  • fund the administration of orienteering, including employment of several administration officers

  • promote our sport to news outlets, other outdoor sports, rural towns hosting an orienteering event

  • facilitate Juniors training camps and Schools Teams

  • maintain the ONSW website

  • provide and maintain the Eventor event-calendar/event-entry website

  • provide newsletters and disseminate information about events

  • provide development opportunities for juniors

  • manage SportNSW's orienteering in schools programs.

Garingal derives its income via entry fees to events.  According to the status of an event, Garingal forwards a levy per competitor per event to both ONSW and Orienteering Australia.
